MDR Chosen to Develop Grand Texas Theme Park Website

Eight years since the closure of Astroworld, Houston will finally have another theme park and entertainment center. And in early November, MDR was chosen by Grand Texas to develop their digital presence. With a short deadline and a very eager public, MDR was able to create a responsive website that will be able to grow as the project continues to evolve. Grandtx.com provides a platform for information on developments and progress for the new park and other exciting venues. Slated for a Summer 2015 opening, construction on the new theme park 30 miles north of Houston is expected to begin in early 2014.

Port A Chamber Tops TFEA Awards

The Port Aransas Chamber and mdr continue to receive industry recognition for marketing work. During the recent marketing awards at the Texas Festival & Events Association (TFEA) conference, the Whooping Crane Festival brought home two awards. They received first place both for Best Event Website and Best Event/Organization E-Newsletter. mdr created and designed both.

34th ANNUAL TELLY AWARDS

Corpus Christi, Texas. May 23, 2013. The Telly Awards has named morehead | dotts | rybak (MDR) as a winner in the 34th Annual Telly Awards for their broadcast work for NEC Retail. With nearly 11,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries, this is truly an honor.

The winning entry titled “More Powerful Together” features a series of commercials with animated hands working together to create a cohesive message. The concept was intended to remind consumers of the benefits of using an electric cooperative as opposed to a traditional electric provider. The idea is that the more cooperative members that join NEC Retail, the more powerful they become as consumers. Electric cooperatives function much like a credit union and can typically offer lower rates because they are a not-for-profit organization owned by their members.

The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and national TV commercials, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world. Other winners have included The Discovery Channel, Fox Networks and The Oprah Winfrey Show.

A prestigious judging panel of over 500 accomplished industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of The Silver Telly Council, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence that Telly represents. “The Telly Awards has a mission to honor the very best in film and video,” said Linda Day, Executive Director of the Telly Awards.

South Texas Trade Alliance facilitated by MDR Advertising

MDR helps Susan Pamerleau become first female Sheriff in San Antonio history

On November 6, 2012, former Air Force two-star general Susan Pamerleau became the first female to be elected Sheriff in Bexar County (San Antonio) Texas.  Her historic campaign was managed by Morehead Dotts Rybak, who was responsible for campaign strategy, implementation and creative production.  Pamerleau unseated the incumbent Sheriff with a 52% vote majority.  It was the latest in many political victories for MDR, who has handled more than 200 campaigns since its founding in 1974. MDR picked to produce TV campaign for Texas A&M International University

Morehead Dotts Rybak has been chosen to create and produce a series of :30 television commercials for Texas A&M International University.  TAMIU, located in Laredo, Texas, is an international university, poised at the gateway to Mexico and serving as the cultural and intellectual hub of a vibrant bilingual and bicultural community.  The TV spots are planned to begin airing in early Spring, 2013.

Port Aransas visitor business continues its torrid pace.

MDR client, Port Aransas Chamber & Tourist Bureau, had another huge increase in visitation based on hotel occupancy. Fiscal Year 2012 saw a 15% increase in HOT (Hotel Occupancy Tax) collections over FY 2011.
